Alice Schreyer

Alice Schreyer is Assistant Director for Special Collections & Preservation, and Director, Special Collections Research Center, University of Chicago Library, before which she held positions at the University of Delaware, the Library of Congress, and Columbia University. She was the founding editor of the ACRL journal, Rare Books & Manuscripts, from 1988 to 1993. She was a member of the ARL Task Force on Special Collections (2002-2006), for which she wrote Education and Training for Careers in Special Collections Librarianship; A White Paper (November 2004), http://www.arl.org/collect/spcoll/index.html. Schreyer is especially interested in the impact of uncovering hidden collections on reader services in special collections, a topic she explored in “Public Services and ‘Un-Hidden’ Collections: What We Know and What We Need to Know” at the 2009 RBMS Preconference.
