On Thursday, 12 October at 7:00 p.m. ET, Connelly Library, the Department of Fine Arts, and the Galleries at Moore College of Art & Design will sponsor a free virtual event, “Artists Books at Fifty: Tony White in Conversation with Dianne Vanderlip.” In 1973, Vanderlip curated an exhibition titled Artists Books at Moore College of Art and Design, marking the first use of this pivotal phrase in the contemporary context. Vanderlip was the first gallery director at Moore College of Art before becoming the first Curator of Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum, a position she held for 30 years. Now their Curator Emerita of Modern and Contemporary Art, she is an art advisor in Los Angeles. Tony White (Library Director at Purchase College) will give a short presentation contextualizing the 1973 exhibition prior to his conversation with Vanderlip. Katie Garth (a printmaker and book artist teaching artists books at Moore) will moderate an audience Q&A. All are welcome, but advanced registration is required.
