You are cordially invited to join the Rare Book School staff for our fall Open House on Thursday, 8 October from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. to:

  • Explore a selection of items from our world-class teaching collection—including objects from our upcoming exhibition about women readers, writers, collectors, and bookmakers
  • Print a letterpress keepsake
  • Try your hand at gold foil stamping in a bookbinding demonstration
  • Make a souvenir RBS button
  • Tour the current exhibition, Objects of Poetry, with our curators
  • Learn about our course offerings and programs (including fellowship opportunities for UVA students)
  • Find out how you can use your faculty/staff UVA education benefit to cover RBS course tuition
  • Enjoy light snacks and refreshments

How to Find Us

Rare Book School is located in Suite 230/231 near Saxby’s on the second floor of UVA’s Edgar Shannon Library (160 McCormick Rd.).

Parking

Information about visitor parking on Grounds can be found on the UVA Parking and Transportation website. The closest parking garage to Rare Book School is the Central Grounds Garage. Two-hour streetside parking is also available on a first-come basis on University Avenue (U.S. 250 Business Rte.) near Shannon Library.
