Rare Book School (RBS) at the University of Virginia is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, which offers a more accessible, intuitive, and richly connected experience for exploring the School’s courses, resources, and programs.

The new RBS website is available at www.rarebookschool.org.

The redesigned site reflects RBS’s commitment to making world-class education in the study of the book available to the widest possible audience. Because the School is committed to welcoming all learners, regardless of ability, the new site is fully compliant with ADA WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards, ensuring that visitors using screen readers, keyboard navigation, or mobile devices can navigate the site with ease.

The redesigned site introduces several significant improvements for all visitors:

  • Accessible by design. Built to meet ADA WCAG 2.2 AA standards, the site was designed with accessibility woven into every phase of development, from color contrast and screen reader compatibility to keyboard navigation and mobile responsiveness.
  • Smarter course and resource discovery. A rebuilt database intelligently connects courses, events, resources, and news, allowing visitors to move fluidly between related content and deepen their engagement with RBS’s offerings.
  • Intuitive navigation. Redesigned user journeys make it easier than ever to find and apply to courses, explore the RBS archive of resources, and connect with the School’s community of faculty, fellows, and staff.
  • Dynamic content throughout. The homepage and key landing pages feature dynamic content that keeps the site fresh and reflects the ongoing vitality of RBS’s programming.
  • Responsive across all devices. Whether visiting the site on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone, users will find a consistent, polished experience optimized for their screen.

“This new website reflects who we are and whom we aspire to serve,” said RBS Executive Director Michael F. Suarez, S.J. “Our community spans continents and career stages, and this site is designed to welcome all of them, from a first-time visitor curious about rare books to a seasoned scholar looking for their next course.”
