Virginia Museum of History & Culture Event: “British Virginia—A Digital Humanities Project”

The Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) invites you to attend a free, in-person event, “British Virginia—A Digital Humanities Project,” which will take place at the VMHC on Tuesday 25 April at 4:00 p.m. ET. Admission is free, but registration is required. For more information and to register, click here

Virginia Commonwealth University English Professor Joshua Eckhardt and interns Sarah Black, Paul Brennan, Kayleigh Dumont, and Olivia Hudson will discuss British Virginia, a digital humanities project that reproduces editions of original documents about the Virginia Colony, primarily from the Virginia Company of London, so that they are widely accessible and freely downloadable. The panelists will explain the project, the challenges it poses, and the benefits it brings to researchers and students across the world. This program will feature an opportunity to see the original documents from the VMHC’s collections, from which these freely accessible versions derive.
